My mother is obsessed with the idea of being able to drive again. Even though she falls a lot and can barely drive a electric scooter much less a 1000lb vehicle where she could hurt someone.

You only are talking about the upper limbs here .. Does BIDMC realize Lymphedema is increasing and not equivalent to breast cancer lymphedema ..It seems in this country only refer to lymphedema as a breast cancer related issue. This is a time worn bias ...and it is harmful. It is harmful to the rest of us on many many levels .. The need for ICG manual Lymphatic drainage is just as needed for lower limbs. ICG is talking about Regional drainage systems in the body. This presentation acts like we don't exist. As more and more survivors of cancer, (and now over 40 % get lymphedema that is cancer related in this country .. 6 yrs ago it was 34% so do the math, it is growing ) we simply are not all breast cancer patients survivors anymore! What is happening with this bias is that the rest of us are discovering not only a lack of information and schooling of the lymph system in medical school, where my fitter for garments knows more what is going on in my body than my GP (which is atrocious oversite for anyone with lymphedema ! Both Upper or lower limb affected!) but that the lymph therapists and clinics are so few and far in this country. I personally find swimming more effective than MLD here. This lecture is very much lacking any attention to the lower limb affected cancer related survivors.. We are underdiagnosed and undertreated .. There was a time only breast cancer patients were the bulk of cancer survivors .. not true anymore! I am writing this because these exclusions bear out when dealing with insurance, legislation, providers , funds for research and simply addressing care and management for a condition that timing is important and essential as it is life long and progressive condition. Many other countries have done way more than the US and are way ahead in treatment and schooling.. we are in the dark ages here .. and really have no excuse why this is so.. the lectures I have heard on ICG and evidence based MLD are from Australia and their lecturers talk about the lower limbs equally as the upper ...

My Nero suspects I have PD, I'm waiting for the dopamine test later this month. I lost motility five months ago, and MDs including one GI doctor told me there was nothing they could do for me. Since hydration is important It was suggested I try a laxative "Magnesium Citrate" " so in common with drinking two liters of water over four hours, followed by the laxative mentioned, I was able to "purge" a brown soup. I did this every third day. I finally found a GI MD in a local teaching hospital, and after an examination, he thinks the sphincter and related muscles may not be relaxing. Further testing appointments coming.

14:36 Are you doing any research now on people without episodic memories? I have Severely Deficient Autobiographical Memory and just realized last year that people can actually “re-experience” memories in vivid sensory detail. I always thought “knowing that something happened” in facts is what a memory is. Now I understand that a memory to most people is the experience of re-living an episode in their “mind’s eye,” which is another concept I had no understanding of until last year when I learned people can see pictures and movies in their heads.

Very informative video. You make it look so easy. I feel like I might remove my own stitches. The doctor that put them in, gave me absolutely no info on when they would be removed, and got so annoyed at any question I asked. Terrible bedside manner! I am stubborn, so I would rather do it myself then go back to that hospital. It's been about 10 or 11 days with them in already.

What she fails to say is that is very hard to consume too many proteines but very easy to overeate carbs. Carbs are not that esential to you , your body can make its one glucose, so yes is better to eat high proteine then high carbs.

Dr. Garrett, thank you so much for this informative video. I have my first appointment coming up with Dr. Wiechert after just being diagnosed with endometrioid adenocarcinoma/Grade 2-3 and am learning as much as I can on my own about all aspects of this cancer. Of course, I haven't been staged yet - and I'm not trying to jump the gun but one of the biggest fears is fear of the future and "what happens if it comes back?" after my hysterectomy. I learned so much from listening to you. I know I will learn more from Dr. Wiechert when the time comes but I feel like you're all one amazing team and I am grateful that I can learn from all of you. I also watched his videos! I don't want to fall too far down the rabbit hole of trying to learn as much as I can...but these BIDMC videos are outstanding. Thanks again!

My health improved 100% when I stopped taking all western medicine and turned to a nutrition lifestyle by changing my eating habits and diet, I avoid prepackaged foods full of chemicals. I purchased Herbal Formula from World Rehabilitate Clinic, I was literally bedbound for about 3 years. But now I have NONE of the issues they diagnosed me with years ago....all done without the help of western medicine. I am not prescribing medicine or supplements but If anyone chose to follow the regimen I chose I will be happy for them, conversely if anyone chooses not to believe, I will fully understand that as I probably wouldn't believe the story if I hadn't lived it.
